Take a Swedish language-tour on the wings of history!
The history of Småland, and indeed its litterature, can be experienced in numerous culture-parks and museums. You can save like a smålander, practicing language in the process of learning about local history and its effect on us today, and on those who lived before.
You choose the focus of your language learning. Together, we put words to history.
You can pick variety and an overview or focus on your special interest!
The area has a lot to offer:
Småland has one of the oldest still active factories in the world, and you can visit intriguing witnesses from the past: Mills, mines and foundries; here are the living monuments of the smålanders’ necessary creativity, which gave us the concept of Gnosjö spirit, a gift from the past, bringing hope for the future.
Here, you can take a trip by steamboat or train in the summer, and visit living history museums all year round. Växjö and Kalmar go far back as towns. Jönköping and Huskvarna on lake Vättern offer industrial historiy and beautiful landscape. Come see how all is connected, hear the stories and put words to history in your new language!
Combine on-line with on-site:
Why not learn while you plan?
Step 1: Lessons built around planning a trip.
Step 2: Come and put your work to use on site!
Once restrictions on travel are lifted, you are ready for a higher level course!
Walk-and-talk in the great outdoors
In Småland, you will find Astrid Lindgren’s world and a moose park where you can meet the king of the forest in person, in a safe environment and learn how not to run into this impressive grey eminence with your car.
And wherever you go, a lake is nearby. At our retreat, we have fishing rights in the lake and enchanting forests a close walking distance.
On the meadows right outside your window, cranes and roe deer come and go as they please. Catch a glimpse or a photo of them if you can!
If you wear a helmet or lifesaver respectively, feel free to borrow our bikes or canoe during your stay. New lakes and waterways lie close by, waiting to share their secrets with you. If the winter is cold, you can hear the ice singing under your skates, or feel the scent of snow and forest as you ski through the fairy tale land. We can have a party of the season with traditional food. Maybe sing together in your new language? You decide how much and what you want to learn of the nature of Småland, what and how to learn as you practice the language and whether to take a longer or shorter course. You are very welcome here!
